Enlarged Pores Skin
A pore is a tiny opening that allows the excretion of sebum and sweat. A dilated pore is fully open and is often located on the face, particularly on the cheeks, around the nose, and especially in the T-zone, where sebaceous glands are most abundant and produce the most sebum.
Difference between enlarged pores and blackheads
Enlarged pores should not be confused with blackheads. When pores remain open, impurities can lodge inside and clog them. This blockage results in the formation of blackheads.
What are the causes of enlarged pores ?
Poor Habits and Products
- Inadequate skin-cleansing routines.
- Use of comedogenic products that prevent the epidermis from breathing properly.
Aging of the Skin
Large pores are natural and can become more pronounced with age. Over time, the skin loses elasticity while sebaceous glands continue to produce sebum, causing the pores to widen as the surrounding structure weakens.
External Aggressions
Tobacco and UV rays contribute to pore dilation by reducing skin elasticity, leading to larger pores.
